ARCHIVES DÉPARTEMENTALES
The Departmental Archives is, first of all, a very surprising building because it combines an old part (completed in 1923) with a "enlargement-restructuring" carried out in 1993 by two contemporary architects: Parisien Dominique Perrault (author, inter alia, François Mitterrand Library) and Mayennais Albert Heude. This point, if you are looking for information about your ancestors or any administrative document relating to the history of the department, you are in the right place! Insured by professionals, the service is free and efficient. But beware, during your first annual arrival, don't forget to present yourself with a piece of identification so that the host hostess will make you a free and valid entry card for a year!
