CITY HALL
On June 16, 1821, Mayor Jean-François de Hercé decided to rebuild town hall, which, since 1757 in the special hotel of Mr. de Pontfarcy (where the current municipal administrative centre is located) is in such a deplorable state that the elected representatives must meet in the prefecture! The location of the location (a former dried marécage in 1688) was taken in 1824 and that of the architect the following year, a certain François-Henri de Gisors who will go to posterity by drawing up the plans of the Senate. The first stone was laid on July 2, 1827 and the last one, five years later. The result? A majestic neoclassical building designed to strongly symbolise the dignity of municipal power.
