THE FORMER BISHOPRIC
In 1855, the creation of the Diocese of Laval led to the creation of a episcopal palace to receive the first bishop of Laval, Monsignor Wicart. Built in the classical tradition, the buildings are set from 1856 to 1861 according to the plans of the Parisian architect Nicolas Lambert. It was a good idea to draw inspiration from a Parisian hotel that has, for several decades, had the particularity of keeping its'customers'more long than those of the Michelin Guide: The hotel of Matignon… In 1905, a report to the law of separation of Church and state, the latter recovers the buildings to install the general cash of Mayenne. In 1988, to accompany the extension of Ambroise-Paré lyceum, the Regional Council acquired this building, which will be completely renovated between 1998 and 2002.
