THE ALAIN-GERBAULT SPACE
Created in 1993, this museum located in the garden of Perrine is dedicated to the life and work of the first navigator to cross the Atlantic solo, Alain Gerbault, a Laval born in a great and beautiful home of the place de Hercé. Disappointed by modern civilization, this former fighter of the 14-18 war decided to embark on his sailboat the Firecrest. He realized a feat and entered the legend. He then devoted the rest of his life to better knowledge of the Polynesian civilization and to writing books that still inspire navigators and all those who love freedom.
