LEVARÉ CASTLE
To the north of the department, do not miss this sublime castle built in the th century by Jean des Vaux, governor of Bas-Maine and gentleman of Charles IX. His family will keep it until the eve of the Revolution and will receive some distinguished guests, such as Mazarin. The current owners who succeeded the Common and Milan allow visitors to enjoy the outdoors: the gardens, chapel, drawbridge, poterne, th- and th-century stables… Beautiful views, which make it dream and help to learn more about the history of France. Note that all these heritage elements have been classified since 2006 at the Supplementary Historical Monuments inventory (ISMH).
