LA MARJOLAINE
A stone's throw from the city of Mayenne, it is one of the most highly rated establishments in the department, and has been since its creation in 1988 by its current head, the excellent Jean-Marie Chapin. It is true that Marjoram offers a thousand and one good reasons to stop here: very comfortable single or superior rooms; two suites which, for one night, give the illusion of being a prince; a swimming pool, and a park where it is good to digest; a pavilion for effective seminars... Not to mention one of the best tables in the area, with a bistro formula for lunch on weekdays (€18.90) and dishes that, in the menus or on the à la carte, smell the flavours of French cuisine: beef tongue braised for a long time in truffle juice, breaded veal sweetbreads with lemon confit, capers and roasted hazelnuts, pigeon, hot foie gras and vegetable purée and for dessert, grapefruit gratin with pink pralines, exotic sorbet.
