BOULES CASTLE
Standing next to the church of Saint-Georges, this medieval castle - in fact an old fortified house turned manor - marks the urban landscape in the centre of Bouloire, massive and elegant at the same time. Destroyed at the beginning of the 15th century by the English, it was only partially rebuilt. Equipped with a corner tower and high austere walls, it is robust with its fortifications. One can observe its towers, one of which is decapitated, its wrought-iron gates and its parapet walk. The Sarthois Pole was defended by other castles including those of Bonnétable, La Ferté-Bernard, Montfort-le-Gesnois, Saint-Calais or Montmirail.
