SOCOA LIGHTHOUSE
Lighthouse located near the Socoa semaphore in Ciboure, built in 1844 with a square tower 12 meters high.
The Socoa lighthouse is a lighthouse house. Built in 1844, its square tower is 12 meters high, and its position on the cliff allows it to stand 36 meters above sea level, overlooking the Bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz. It was erected at the request of the Ciboure fishermen, who wished to build a lighthouse close to the Fort de Socoa. It was automated in 1970 and no longer has a keeper. It is located near the Socoa semaphore, belonging to the French Navy, and on the Basque Coast coastal path.
