Architecture and Heritage Interpretation Center in the former Récollets convent, near the port of Ciboure.
Located near the port of Ciboure, the Centre d'Interprétation d'Architecture et du Patrimoine is housed in the former Récollets convent, which was renovated and opened in 2023. Visitors can discover elements of the bay's history through a historic 17th-century site covering more than 1,000 m². You'll enjoy guided and dramatized tours with tour guides, workshops for the general public in the educational room, conferences, exhibitions and shows.
Experience: the CIAP has 3 permanent exhibition areas, animated by a playful scenography with a projection-mapping of the history of the bay and the Récollets convent, from its creation to its restoration, the maritime adventure of the bay and the scenography with models, maps, interactive games and matériauthèque... An educational room dedicated to workshops for schoolchildren and the general public, as well as an application, "CIAP Les Récollets", to discover the towns on your own.
Discover: the public can discover a unique ensemble listed as a Historic Monument: the cloister and a monumental coping stone, the former chapel and the contemporary building inspired by the shipyard tradition.
Explore: a program open to all, with guided tours, dramatized tours and heritage breaks. Two temporary exhibition spaces: a major summer exhibition in the chapel, and the belvedere.
