LA TOUR DE BORDAGAIN
This two-part tower was the strategic defensive point of a military system in Ciboure / Ziburu
The Tour de Bordagain consists of 2 elements: the church and the military tower. The church dates back to the 12th century and was Ciboure's only church until 1575. Nationalized during the French Revolution, it fell into ruin and was almost destroyed. The tower was added in the 14th century and was the strategic defensive point of a military system. An architect from Saint-Jean-de-Luz undertook to restore it and even added a bar. From the top of the tower, you have a magnificent view over the bay and the Basque coast, from Fontarrabie to the Landes. The tower also houses exhibitions.
