In the ninth century, King Charles le Chauve, seeing this rocky spur, ideally placed along Sarthe, decided to build a first fortress in order to fight against the Norman invasions, and later English. The castle door of the XIV century is always standing with its two round towers flanked by murderers. It is now in this building that the remarkable hairdresser museum is installed.
