THE TRAMWAY BRIDGE

Vestige of the late century, the last survivor of its kind in La Bazoge, Sarthe.
The tramway bridge, with its old earthen embankment in the middle of the nearby lake, is a vestige of the late 19th century. Its originality lies in the fact that it is the last surviving bridge of its kind in the Sarthe: the railway used to cross it. The Bazoge station, inaugurated in 1915, was managed by the "Compagnie des Tramways de la Sarthe", created in 1883 and in use until the Second World War. The train serving La Bazoge first passed through La Chapelle-Saint-Aubin, Saint-Saturnin, La Milesse, Aigné, then on to Saint-Jean-d'Assé, Saint-Marceau, Assé-le-Riboul, Le Tronchet, Vernie and stopped at the Ségrie station.
