This monument was erected in memory of Joan of Arc in 1921 to thank the woman who had been implored to preserve this part of the country from the German advance. The tower, in medieval style, covers the mound where the castle of Chartres-sur-le-Loir stood. The statue of the saint (Joan of Arc was canonized in 1920) is three metres long and proudly displays a standard and a sword. Inside, there is the funeral chapel where the names of soldiers who died for France in the first part of the 20th century are engraved.

Accessible à pied ou en voiture, le site est accueillant, bien entretenu par la commune. Cette tour placée sur une butte castrale domine la cité et les environs, offrant aux visiteurs de beaux panoramas. Mémorial dressé en 1920 après le conflit 1914-1918 en l'honneur des soldats du canton morts pour la France, la statue de Jeanne d'Arc célébrant la Foi, l'héroïsme et le patriotisme. Une plaque commémorative du centenaire apporte des informations pertinentes quant à l'histoire de cette tour.

Le site est beau et paisible.
L'accès (en voiture ou à pied directement depuis le village) l'est autant même si le début du chemin depuis le village peut être difficile à trouver

La vue donne sur la commune de La Chartre sur le Loir et ces alentours, un endroit calme et paisible vous y attend pour vos sorties en plein air sur la commune, accessible par route avec petit parking ou par des marches un peux pentu arrivé à la tour,
je recommande donc cette endroit pour y faire votre pique-nique, sa vue, son calme.
