FÊTE NATIONALE, PRISE DE LA BASTILLE

Every year since 1977, Lavaré has staged one of the decisive episodes of the French Revolution with a reconstruction of the storming of the Bastille. About a hundred extras and volunteers take part in the costumed parade through the streets of this small village of character. One crosses a procession of sans-culottes, but also bourgeois, a few lost nobles and members of the clergy. The festivities continue with various animations and games. The cardboard Bastille is stormed and burnt down. A great bonfire! Ball and fireworks as a bonus. A unique historical festival in Sarthe. Memorable.
