KYUDO JCM
Still relatively unknown to the general public, Japanese archery, known as "kyudo", is a martial art born of hunting and war. The archers shoot with bamboo bows more than 2 meters high according to the greatest Japanese tradition. During the demonstrations, they perform a sharei (group shooting) in the greatest silence on targets at a distance of 15-20 meters. Men lower the left sleeve of their keikogi (white short-sleeved shirt) while women straighten it with a ribbon. In 2012, France won the world championships in Japan. Catherine Boucher (3rd dan) teaches classes at the Gymnasium des Bruyères in Kyudo JCM (unique in Sarthe) and transmits the values inherent to this sport where the shooter's only opponent is himself.
