VENDÉE BRIDGE
The Pont des Vendéens, also named Pont de Pontlieue, was completed in Le Mans during the xie century. It was a stone bridge crossing the Huisne. In particular, he is famous for being undermined by the mantle troops during the Vendean insurgency. The bridge was destroyed before the vendeans arrived in the city, just before the battle of the Battle du Mans.
The remains of the bridge were preserved and are still visible and accessible as public park, near Newton promenade. Subsequently a new bridge was built at a hundred meters from the old bridge, this is the new Pont de Pontlieue.
