GOURDAINE GARDENS

From the old quarter of Gourdaine, situated between the Roman wall and the Sarthe, only remains the poterne, the Abel Fountains and the Fountain of Hôpiteau. Once densely populated, this neighbourhood was filled with small houses and lean with poor people who were carrying out the activities of the time that were requesting water. Destroyed in the 1970 s, it was replaced by flowery gardens whose layout and grid remind the original frame of the medieval site. It is very nice to walk there.
