The Maison de l'Eau is in fact the former Le Mans water factory, built in 1906 and still in operation some twenty years ago. It has undergone a good facelift and refurbishment that is worth a visit. The architectural setting at the beginning of the last century alone deserves your attention. Then, you can see the history of water, from the source to the tap: steam and hydraulic engines, aquariums, the Bollée wind turbine. You will know everything about this element vital to life on earth. And finally, know that it is the entrance for pedestrians to the Ark of Nature, accessible by tramway. Vel'Nature, a bicycle rental service (mountain bikes, mountain bikes and fun bikes) is located at the Maison de l'Eau (information: 02 43 47 40 33).
