Convicted for intelligence with the enemy during the First World War, it was in this house that Joseph Caillaux waited for his rehabilitation in 1925. This great figure of the iie Republic was President of the Council of Ministers, Finance Ministers and President of the Departmental Council of Sarthe. He is known to be the father of income tax. He lived in Mamers until his death on November 21, 1944.
