SAINT-MÉDARD CHURCH

Inside this 12th century Romanesque church, mural paintings, listed in the inventory of Historic Monuments, are from the 13th and 14th centuries. The church was extensively rebuilt in the 16th century. Note the altarpieces of the choir and the two side chapels which date from the 17th century. It preserves frescoes on plaster support from the 16th century. The bell tower has a square base and an octagonal spire. Take the time to get your eyes used to the darkness of the church as the paintings are really very rich, among the richest in Sarthe by the way, but sometimes difficult to distinguish. Your patience will be rewarded.
