TISSAGE DE LUZ, THE TRADITION OF EXCEPTIONAL FRENCH LINEN
For more than a century, Tissage de Luz in the Basque Country has been perpetuating the excellence and authenticity of traditional linen through collections marked by know-how and creativity
A family history
In 1908, Jean-Baptiste Gouze inaugurated in Gestas, in the Béarn region, one of the first weaving workshops in the region. Recognized for their quality, his fabrics quickly became very popular with cloth merchants and Parisian department stores. Faced with the growing popularity, he opened his first factory in Bayonne with his son, Félix, who took over the company in 1934. Over the decades, from generation to generation, the craze for the company's fabrics continued to grow, and in 2002, the Tissage de Luz brand was officially created. It is this exceptional heritage that Jérôme Fanfare, the 5th generation at the head of the company, is committed to maintaining through bold collections, made with the greatest respect for tradition
An ancestral know-how
For more than a century, the same century-old gestures have been repeated in the company's workshops. Tablecloths, towels, sheets, coated fabrics or cushion covers, all the fabrics made by Tissage de Luz are the result of an artisanal and virtuoso manufacturing process, from the dyeing of the threads to the weaving and warping. Entirely made in France, in GOTS certified organic cotton or in linen and organic cotton mix, all the models claim an undeniable robustness and durability. A passion for authenticity and tradition that has earned the company the Origine France Garantie label, but also the pride of being selected to design a collection in collaboration with the Élysée boutique
Timeless collections
While the company has managed to preserve its heritage and know-how, it has also succeeded in combining tradition and creativity with timeless collections that have been passed down from generation to generation. Always resolutely anchored in the air of time, the Tissage de Luz models reinterpret the traditional striped style, which is adorned with harmonious shades, underlining all the authenticity of the Basque Country. A creative vision that is reflected in the Archives collection, inspired by the old canvases that made the house famous... And continue to contribute to its success!
