A remarkable reserve in Barbâtre, a true refuge for a large number of animals, it is also home to a rich flora.
A protected site of 132 hectares, 4 km long, classified as a regional nature reserve. A real refuge for a large number of animals, birds, insects and plants to be discovered with the LPO's guides. The Sebastopol polder was reclaimed from the sea using the Dutch polder technique, a know-how imported by the Jacobsens who traded salt with the island. The work was completed in 1856. The last polder to be built on the island, it owes its name to the Battle of Sebastopol.
