THE CHURCH OF ST. ETIENNE
This church, classified as a historical monument, has an exceptional bell tower and a medieval framework
Listed as a Historic Monument, the church of Saint-Etienne de Bois-de-Céné has an exceptional bell tower and a medieval roof structure. Built between the 14th and 15th centuries, it has a bell tower with a tapered spire. Inside, four pillars decorated with strange medieval figures - representing the seven deadly sins - surround the nave. There is also a Merovingian sarcophagus - exhumed in 1971 -, two baroque altarpieces, and a granite baptismal font - 15th-16th centuries. Another listed item from the same period: a Christ on the Cross in lime wood and lead.
