ST. NICHOLAS CHURCH
Church among the most beautiful medieval monuments of the Vendée
Dating from the beginning of the 11th century, the church of Saint-Nicolas - patron saint of boatmen - is certainly one of the most beautiful medieval monuments in the Vendée. It is also listed in the inventory of Historical Monuments. Stored during the Wars of Religion, it preserves its remarkable portal where Saint Nicolas is surrounded by multiple human and animal figures in a triangular pediment, as well as its central nave erected in 1020. Two 12th century frescoes are painted on the nave of the choir and the interior of the church is striking for the austerity of its appearance.
