La Gachère is an old port formed by the mouth of the rivers Auzance and Vertonne
At the exit of Brem, in the direction of the forest of Olonne, La Gachère is an old port formed by the mouths of the rivers Auzance and Vertonne. Stroll in the marshes of La Gachère, entrance to the old port of Olonnes. Small sailor's village, very typical with its narrow streets and low whitewashed houses, is extended by a harbour, meeting place for fishermen. The river Auzance offers a mixture of fresh and salt water suitable for fishing. Until the 16th century, fishing was the main activity of this now sandy port.
