A site full of history located on the old railroad line connecting the station of Breuil-Barret to that of Velluire
Located on the old railroad line linking the station of Breuil-Barret to that of Velluire, the viaduct of Coquilleau is a site full of history! 41 km long, it was put into service in 1881 and was transferred to the SNCF in 1938. This line had 2 viaducts, the one of Coquilleau (52 m high) near La Châtaigneraie and the one of Baguenard shortly after the station of Vouvant-Cezais. When they built this railroad, the engineers took advantage of the narrow sandstone bar of Coquilleau which allowed to cross the river La Mère.
