Grotto in the shaded site of the Grenotière, housing a statue of Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes and welcoming pilgrimages
In the shady site of La Grenotière, on the banks of the Sèvre, a grotto of Lourdes has been set up, the result of a promise made during the Second World War by the priest Tesson. In 1946, the land was donated by the owner to the diocesan association of Luçon, after acceptance by Monseigneur Cazaux. The grotto was inaugurated on Easter Day 1947. The statue of Our Lady of Lourdes was carried in procession to the grotto under the triumphal arches. Every year a pilgrimage is held there which attracts the inhabitants of Cugand and the surrounding area.
