DISCOVERING THE MARÔ - THE BRETON MARSHES OF THE VENDEE
Discover the Marais Breton Vendéen, an exceptional nature reserve located in La Barre-de-Monts-Fromentine.
Straddling the Vendée and the Loire-Atlantique, the Marais Breton Vendéen is an area of 45,000 hectares of wetlands, with Ramsar certification (wetlands of international importance), grouped under the name Le Marô. It is spread over 18 communes, of which Sallertaine, Bois-de-Céné and Le Perrier form the heart. Between wet meadows, reedbeds and polders, 7,000 km of canals and streams, the Marô is the cradle of a great biological wealth, where flora and fauna thrive.
