ATLANTIC WALL BUNKER
150 blockhouses in La Guérinière, classified as heritage, offering a fascinating discovery of the remains
One hundred and fifty blockhouses were built on the island by the Germans during the Second World War. Classified as 20th-century heritage. The remaining remains are at L'Épine (Scharnhorst battery), Pointe de l'Herbaudière (Clausewilz) and La Guérinière (Tirpitz). The latter is the best preserved, and it is on this site that guided tours of the R627 fire direction post (observation post for artillery under armoured plate) are offered. The Atlantic Wall Memory association offers a fascinating journey into the heart of history.
