THE THEATRE
This theater, labeled as a historical monument, is one of the three performance venues of the national scene
Inaugurated in 1845, it is part of the architecture of Italian-style theatres with a hall in the shape of a horseshoe lined with several levels of boxes. The domed ceiling with its masterful chandelier made from 1845 drawings is the major feature. Decorated with eight canvases mounted in caissons with alternating Roman muses and floral motifs, it contrasts with the antique temple aspect of its façade. Labelled a Historic Monument, it is one of the three venues on the national scene, Le grand R with the Manège and the Maison Gueffier.
