THE METZIG
The most representative building of the Renaissance style with a double staircase on the main façade in Molsheim
Built after 1583 for the butchers' guild, the Metzig is the most representative building of the Renaissance style in Molsheim. This beautiful building has two levels: the ground floor with arched vaults and the first floor with balconies with balustrades. The main façade is decorated with a double staircase crowned by a bulbous turret with its jacquemart clock (1607), where two stone cherubs ring the bell. In the upper part, a niche houses a statue of the Virgin and Child. The first floor includes a magnificent colonnaded room.
