BROCA FOUNTAIN
A round-arched building with a barrel vault, a small fountain known as the Roman baths in Gan
For a long time Gan wanted to make this fountain a source of water with therapeutic virtues. In 1748, this semicircular-arched building with its cul-de-four vault housed baths. During the 18th century, the structure was completed with drainage canals and marble baths for external use. This small fountain is referred to as the "Roman Baths". This place of cure had a certain success thanks to the fashion of the thermalism in the Pyrenees, but in Gan, the use of this fountain knew a progressive decline in the XIXth century. The town tried to restore its thermal baths to their former glory during the century until 1914 with the construction of an annex building, but to no avail. The activity stopped in 1940. Although the spring is no longer exploitable, the site has nevertheless been restored and is becoming an interesting part of the local heritage.
