Memorial chapel of the Vendée war, erected by the Duchess of Angouleme, daughter of Louis XVI in Les Herbiers
On the Mont des Alouettes, stands the chapel commemorating the Vendée War, restored in 1968. Erected in 1825-1830 by the Duchess of Angoulême, daughter of Louis XVI, this monument is a pure example of 19th century neo-gothic architecture. The nave, with its harmonious granite fittings, which can be accessed through a large porch, is closed by a monumental portal in solid oak. A sober building, lit by modern stained glass windows bearing the coats of arms of the 3 insurgent provinces.
