Visit of the Mont des Alouettes, one of the mythical places of the Vendée history in Les Herbiers.
At 3 km from Les Herbiers, in the direction of Cholet, the Alouettes mount culminates at 231 m of altitude. This name would come from a base camp of a Roman legion. It is one of the mythical places of the Vendean history: the Vendean armies used to gather here. The mills were used as optical telegraphs: during the Vendée wars (1793-1794), depending on the position of the wings, they gave signals to the Vendean insurgents on the movements of the enemy. It reveals a grandiose panorama from the hills of Pouzauges to the towers of the cathedral of Nantes.
