Historial de la Vendée, inviting visitors to plunge back into 7,000 years of history with its ultra-modern museum and playful Children's Museum
In the heart of the Boulogne valley, L'Historial de la Vendée retraces over 7,000 years of Vendée history, in 6 dedicated rooms. Prehistory, Antiquity, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Vendée Wars, the 19th and 20th centuries... all the major periods are covered. Meet Neolithic hunters, stroll down a Gallo-Roman street, chat with the great humanists of the Renaissance, relive the epic story of the soldiers of 1793, visit a village of the last century... You'll have an unforgettable day! With the aim of being accessible to all, the Historial presents an original museography, both playful and immersive, and pays particular attention to the youngest visitors with a concept that is unique in France: the Children's Museum, for learning while having fun. In this 300m2 space, young visitors follow a fun trail to learn all about the sea! From the youngest children who can't yet read to those who have mastered reading, the Children's Museum is a place specifically designed for them. Here, they can meet Gaspard the duck, the museum's mascot, and follow him as he discovers the world of the sea. All year round, themed Sundays: activities, guided tours... During the school vacations, there are daily activities, guided tours on Thursdays and Sunday afternoons, not forgetting the temporary exhibitions. An innovative museum in terms of both its bold, modern architecture, with its green roof, and its museography.
