A "ferry" (shuttle) runs all year round for the crossing of the channel which links the town centre of Les Sables-d'Olonne to the La Chaume district, with arrival at the fishing port. The ferryman has the great advantage of being available all year round. There are two access points: the Guiné quay in the fishing port and opposite, the George-V quay, in La Chaume. The ships are frequented by tourists as well as by the inhabitants of Sables-d'Olonne and the surrounding area.

High season: open every day from 7am to 2am. Until midnight in June. From October to May: Monday to Thursday 7am-8pm; Friday and Saturday 8am-10pm; Sunday and holidays 8am-8pm. September and Easter: Monday to Thursday 7am-10pm; until midnight Friday, Saturday, old holidays. Ticket: 1,10 €, 10-pass card: 8 €, monthly card: 14 €.

Le Passeur aux Sables d'Olonne

Le Passeur est un service très utile et un agréable moyen d'accéder à un autre quartier des Sables-d'Olonne, en l'occurrence le quartier de la Chaume, sans reprendre la voiture. Le Passeur vous remet un plan de la Chaume à l'embarquement dans la navette maritime (d'autres exemplaires sont à disposition dans le bateau). J'ai trouvé ce plan très pratique pour savoir quels sont les différents sites à visiter dans ce quartier. J'ai également bien apprécié cette petite traversée maritime ; elle est d'ailleurs très prisée et, déjà fin juin, il fallait faire la queue pour pouvoir "espérer" embarquer : en effet, le nombre de passagers est limité par traversée, ce qui est sécuritaire !
