ST. NICHOLAS' PRIORY
A priory flanked by seven cannons, dedicated to culture and events (concerts), giving a superb view of the bay.
Erected by the monks of Sainte-Croix de Talmont during the 11th century, the priory was plundered during the Wars of Religion, restored by Richelieu, transformed into a fort, guard house and powder magazine from the end of the 18th to the end of the 19th century. Dominating the entrance to the port and protected by two long piers built in the 18th century, the priory flanked by seven cannons offers a superb view of the bay. Very beautiful site with a frescoed monument of the Peris at sea. The priory is today a place dedicated to culture (exhibitions) and events (concerts).
