THE CHURCH OF SAINT-HILAIRE
Church enlarged under Louis XV, whose transept, choir and bell tower were rebuilt in the neo-Gothic style
The date of construction of this edifice built on an ancient feudal mound, on the remains of a fortified castle, is not known. It was enlarged under Louis XV. In 1943, a storm knocked down the 50-metre spire, already weakened by the bombing of 1942. It will not be rebuilt and the church will keep the aspect we know it today. The transept, the choir and the bell tower were rebuilt in the neo-gothic style at the beginning of the 20th century. The façade, the nave and its side aisles bear witness to the religious architecture of the late 18th century.
