The Armandèche lighthouse was built in 1968 by architect Maurice Durand. It was the last lighthouse to be built in France. It is a white hexagonal tower 38.96 meters high, with a spiral staircase of 193 steps. Sailors can see the lighthouse from 24 miles away. Its warning signal lasts 15 seconds. It has become the landing light for the port of Les Sables-d'Olonne, replacing the Arundel lighthouse. It has been classified as a historic monument since 2012. It can only be visited during Heritage Days.
