STATE-OWNED OLONNE FOREST
Forest home to deer, wild boar, squirrels and many birds
A pine forest planted on the dunes in 1836. At the place called Mireille, green pines in close and parallel rows. Further north, older irregular forest: groves of holm oaks, medlar trees, wild corms, sloes, hawthorns, tamarisk, willows, acacias. In the centre of the forest, firebreaks form wide trenches. Deer, wild boar, squirrels and many birds live there. A curiosity, the menhir of the Green Conch is worth a visit. And if you like megalithic sites, we recommend the one in Pierre-Levée.
