Natural harbour that was once called Le Havre-d'Olonne. The fishing port dates from the 15th century under the impulse of Louis XI. At that time, the port of Sablais was the first port for cod fishing. It is currently the most important of the Vendée. The fishing is done by trawling in the Gulf of Biscay and in the Irish Sea.
