THE MILLSTONE CHAPEL
A modest white chapel dedicated to Notre-Dame-de-Bonne-Nouvelle, overlooking the small port of La Meule on the Ile d'Yeu.
Overlooking the small port of La Meule, an adorable little white chapel, dedicated to Notre-Dame-de-Bonne-Nouvelle, protector of sailors. Without doubt one of the oldest religious testimonies still present. It is said to have been built by monks who settled on the island at the beginning of the 11th century and who also built the Saint-Sauveur church. Faithfully maintained and restored over the centuries in its original simplicity, the modest chapel has always been the object of veneration of the islanders who still go there on pilgrimage on Easter Monday and 15 August.
