The point which marks the break between wild coast and large beaches on the island of Yeu
At the extreme south-east of the island towards the hamlet of La Croix, it marks the break between the wild coast and the large beaches. In prehistoric times, a megalith stood on this point. It was destroyed around 1657 to build a redoubt. In 1862 the structure was razed to the ground to build a 19.20 m high lighthouse, which was put into service in 1860, blown up in 1944 and rebuilt in 1950 in an Art Deco style. The Pointe des Corbeaux is said to have taken its name from a legend which tells us that in the past two white crows ruled over the island and dispensed justice by settling disputes.
