A village in the center of the island where the inhabitants have not been spared by history
A village in the centre of the island, former capital of the place, where the inhabitants have not been spared by history! Norman pillaging, English and Spanish occupations caused significant damage. The 1953 fire destroyed the church tower which was for centuries the first bitter for sailors returning from America and for whom the island of Yeu was often the first port of call. In front of the church, two blessed stones called waiting stones for the dead on which coffins were to be placed while waiting for the funeral convoys.
