THE HOSPITAL CHAPEL
The chapel dedicated to Sainte-Magdeleine in Luçon.
It was consecrated on February 2, 1400 under the name of Saint Magdalene. The cathedral being out of use after the wars of religion, the canonical service was celebrated in this church in 1570. Bishop Pierre Nivelle was buried in the chapel in 1661. In the courtyard of the hospital, behind the chapel and adjoining it, the Saint-Côme hall is a very beautiful 18th century building, whose façade bears the coat of arms, hammered out during the Revolution, of Bishop Jacquemet Gaultier d'Ancyse, the bishop of Luçon, who had it built.
