L'EGLISE SAINT-SAUVEUR
Church classified as a historical monument and dominating the Lay, one of the masterpieces of the Vendée Romanesque art, to discover.
Classified as a historical monument, this church dominates the Lay. Next to it, the imposing castle stands out in the sky. The view on the church and the castle, from the bridge, is superb. It is an outstanding heritage building because of its particularly ancient character. The narthex, which originally served as the base for a porch bell tower, dates from the 11th century. Admire the famous chevet. The main façade is a fine example of neo-Romanesque architecture and 19th century sculpture. The church of Saint-Sauveur is one of the masterpieces of Vendéen Romanesque art.
