LA TOUR PLANTIER
An atypical tower to discover in Noirmoutier, a private property built in 1861 for physician Frédéric Plantier.
A private property built in 1861 for Frédéric Plantier, a doctor from Noirmoutier, by his brother, Louis-Joseph, a Ponts et Chaussées engineer who designed several lighthouses on the Vendée islands, it was the first resort building in Bois de la Chaise. Its design, in stone and brick, and its shape are quite atypical. It consists of a five-storey circular tower, covered by a flat roof and surrounded by a wrought-iron railing, adjoined by a smaller but taller tower flanked by a circular dome.
