Reserve made up of remarkable marshes in Noirmourtier, refuge of many species of birds and plants, to visit.
The 48 ha of the Müllemburg marshes, reclaimed from the sea in the last century, are home to many bird and plant species (160 species). The reclamation work that created these marshes at the beginning of the 19th century was commissioned by Jean-Cornil Jacobsen. It is protected by the Jacobsen causeway. In addition to the creation of salt marshes, this causeway allowed ships to sail up the harbour access channel in adverse winds. At the end of the Jacobsen jetty, the 16th century Fort Larron defended the entrance to the harbour channel.
