The "Fête de la Meunerie" takes place every odd year and will celebrate its 22nd edition this year. This traditional festival is held every 2 years. In the heart of the small town of Nieul-sur-l'Autise, 700 volunteers bring back to life the atmosphere of a Vendean village during the 1920s. Dressed in period costumes, they show visitors how the miller lived, how flour was made, how bread was made by hand and how it was baked in a wood-fired oven. You will also meet the wheelwright, the basket maker, the priest, schoolchildren, poachers, washerwomen, lace makers... At any time, animations and shows are also presented in the streets, with a gourmet meal and a popular ball at the end of the evening.
