Salt marshes of life, testifying to the intense activity that reigned around the salt harvest in Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez.
Shaped by man as early as the 7th century, the salt marshes bear witness to the intense activity that reigned around the salt harvest. However, a few years ago, the salt of Life was no longer harvested. With the resettlement of sauniers on a recreated marsh, a new story begins... From 1995, the restoration of the Recoin saltworks, and then the Etoile marshland, have enabled the preservation of a remarkable natural site, classified Natura 2000. In 2006, the two marshes joined forces to offer an exciting salt discovery trail.
